We get excited every time we get a chance to plan a wedding at Larz Anderson House. When Abbey and Alexi told us about their vision for a Greece-inspired affair, we couldn’t wait to start designing. Abbey and Alexi wanted their wedding to be filled with family, food and fellowship (a few of our favorite things). They also wanted a Greek-inspired theme to pay homage to Alexis’s heritage and culture. We took their wishes and created an intentional wedding design that embodied the cultural and sentimental facets of their love story. The results, as you’ll see below, were spectacular.

Greek-inspired Wedding Details
Bougainvillea is Abbey’s favorite flower, and we wanted to incorporate them in a big way. Using the vibrant pink hue of Bougainvillea and an array of blue tones that are iconic of Greece, we began to design all of what would be their wedding day details. Oftentimes when we work with our couples, everyone is excited to get to their wedding ceremony and reception decor. But at Jayne Heir, we care about ALL of the details. The theme was evident from the minute they started getting ready. For Alexi, this meant a blue suit with a bougainvillea-inspired tie and olive leaves as his boutonniere. Our bride Abbey, on the other hand, was the epitome of stunning and was an absolute vision with her vibrant floral bouquet and something blue wedding shoes.
A Gorgeous Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Larz Anderson House
Alexi and Abbey got engaged in Greece and one of the things they wanted for their wedding ceremony was to exchange vows on “a piece to Greece”. They brought home a gorgeous blue rug from their trip to Greece and we set it up at the altar and used it as the foundation of their wedding ceremony design. Surrounding them at the altar were 4 pillars of florals that resembled some of the classic Greece-inspired architecture we see today.
Transporting Guests to Greece for Their Wedding Reception
We knew we needed a statement piece to transport Abbey and Alexi’s wedding guests straight to Greece. For this wedding, that was their escort display. An immersive masterpiece, their escort installation resembled the alcoves and stoned walls of Greece flawlessly. Even more, the alcoves were filled with Greek details and customized Olive Oil from Georgetown Olive Oil (we love doubling down on escort cards that become wedding favors).
Once guests found their names, they could start to appreciate the rest of the Greece-inspired wedding reception details. From custom Bougainvillea menu cards to oversize Greek busts surrounding the reflection pool (adorned with Bougainvillea florals), there truly was no detail that was overlooked. Their table numbers were named after a few of their favorite places and were acrylic cut outs resembling ancient Greek vases. Abbey and Alexi’s wedding reception was full of the vibrant hues of Abbey’s favorite flower and there was an abundance of Greek elements all around. Every nook of this wedding at Larz Anderson House was delicately decorated to perfection.
A Reception Reveal to Remember
One of the most satisfying moments of my career was watching Abbey and Alexi react to their reception reveal. While we are no strangers to planning luxury events and watching all the details come together, we know that it often surprises our couples just how incredible everything looks. You can see the pure joy on Abbey’s face every time she turned her head. When we design weddings, we like to think that the closer your guests look, the more they will be surprised and delighted. Our weddings are more than “surface level” beautiful and it comes through in all of the details.
An Al Fresco Wedding Dinner at Larz Anderson House
Guests ate under string lights in the garden of Larz Anderson House. Although we always come prepared with a backup plan, we love when wedding guests can dine under the stars. Outdoor wedding venues are often our favorite! After dark, together with their guests, Abbey and Alexi headed inside for a lively evening of dancing and some wedding cake. It was so much fun. I made it on the dance floor for a few moments!
An Iconic Wedding Day
Abbey and Alexi’s wedding at Larz Anderson House was absolutely iconic. It was hard to put this wedding into words, but we sure did try! We love to create designs that are not only unique, but that will stand the test of time. Abbey and Alexi’s Greek-inspired wedding was unlike anything we had created before, and it stretched our creative muscles and gave us so much joy.
