Jayne Heir + PartySlate Present: Light Up the Night

Being selected to plan and design the PartySlate DC Community Event this year has been a major career milestone for me. I felt incredibly honored to have been chosen, and I am eager to showcase the brilliant work we have accomplished. Bringing my out-of-the-box design from imagination to reality was truly a dream come true. Thank you PartySlate!

On top of that, I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with my preferred vendor team. Their ability to understand and express my vision in a way that would uplift our industry and the DC community was remarkable. It was an exciting experience to see the familiar faces I work with on weddings come together in a fresh and inspiring way.

I Present To You: “Light Up the Night”

The best event themes aren’t replicas of what you’ll see on Pinterest. I want to choose a theme intentionally, and ensure it would mean something. When I started thinking about concepts, I thought about the fact that each and every single person carries a special light that only they can use to illuminate the Earth. Therefore, why not combine all of the bright lights in our industry and community? This event was about uplifting our industry and building relationships with industry peers and I wanted that reflected in every design decision.

Located in the Wharf in Washington, D.C, we have one of the chicest indoor venues: La Vie. The venue offered an idyllic setting, boasting picturesque waterfront views and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, its elegant ambiance was complemented by dazzling chandeliers and a vibrant color palette, creating an atmosphere of opulence and allure. When I started the design, I knew I wanted to enhance the venue’s natural beauty and vibrant decor and therefore, a neon disco color palette was born.

To infuse a captivating ambiance, I opted to integrate vibrant neon lights accompanied by sparkling disco balls. The neon lights exuded an exhilarating burst of colors that illuminated the entire room. Additionally, there’s an undeniable charm in dancing beneath a glittering disco ball. I seamlessly incorporated these radiant disco balls into the floral arrangements and customized signage. The overall theme exuded freshness, lightheartedness, and left a lasting impression on all attendees.

Working with the Best DC Wedding Vendor Team

When I began designing, I prioritized empowering every vendor I worked with to leverage their talents and bring their unique vision to life for the event. The remarkable vendors here in DC deserve a platform to shine, and that’s precisely what I aimed to provide.

To bring this incredible event to life, I had the support of some of my favorite floral and production vendors. Sweet Gifts brought the vibrant palette to life with silver, neon green, and hot pink balloon installations and photo backdrops that created perfect Instagrammable moments. The LightSource Company went beyond their name by providing neon and other lighting elements, as well as producing themed vinyl wraps for the events. Something Vintage Rentals elevated the space with their amazing selection of rentals. Distinctive Event Design added colorful florals in installations that mixed with neon lighting and disco balls for a unique aesthetic. Wilori Lane designed oversized 3D neon light signage that made a major statement at the bars. The list goes on and on!

Culinary Delights and Mouth Watering Libations

When we design any event, we know that delicious food and refreshing drinks are paramount to ensuring everyone enjoys themselves. La Vie’s catering team carefully curated a menu of delicious delights that left partygoers thrilled. Guests enjoyed a variety of options, including a caprese panini station with fresh herbs, a carving station with lamb and sausages, and summer-inspired sushi and barbecue delicacies like tender short ribs with potato stacks.

Then, over at the bar, we served imaginative cocktails like the Purple Blossom 75, a vibrant drink. Made with blue butterfly-infused gin, lemon and pineapple juice, berry syrup, and prosecco – this cocktail was a hit with attendees. Additionally, the Watermelon Wishes cocktail featured tequila infused with habanero-imbued pineapple puree and balanced with refreshing watermelon flavors. Frosé and Piña Coladas were also served, creating the perfect sweet summertime vibe.

Furthermore, at Jayne Heir Weddings and Events, we truly believe that no detail is too small. It’s the meticulous attention to these finer points that leaves a lasting impression on our guests. For instance, amongst the myriad of details that made the evening memorable, the custom signage and drink stirrers sparkled and added a touch of glamour to our signature cocktails, making them truly unforgettable.

The Dress Code

While I wouldn’t dream of taking credit for how fabulous everyone looked, we asked guests to wear bright cocktail style attire and they did not disappoint! I’m still swooning over some of the most fashionable guests of the evening. It added to the electrifying atmosphere and brought so much joy into the event.

PartySlate Entertainment

I was truly amazed by the interactive entertainment provided by Artstella Productions at the event. Firstly, the performance of the dancing disco ball was absolutely incredible and left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Then, the addition of the DJ and saxophonist from Lucy Black Entertainment added the perfect touch of party vibes throughout the evening. The collaboration between La Vie for production and A/V, and Extraordinary Entertainment for staging, created an impeccable environment for the entertainers.

Additionally, one more interactive entertainment highlight was the curated photo booth from Booth-o-Rama, which allowed guests to capture memorable moments with old and new friends in both photo and .gif formats, framed in a vibrant neon pink border. It was an extraordinary event filled with fellowship and fun and as an event planner, I was in awe watching everyone truly enjoy themselves and soak up each and every element we thoughtfully curated.

Not only are we incredibly grateful to have been chosen to design such an incredible event, but we are beyond grateful for each and every vendor who brought our vision to life and made it a reality.
