Some weddings are striking from the start, and Jean and Hamilton’s Fall celebration at Potomac View Terrace was no exception. From the beginning, they envisioned a wedding that blended fashion-forward style, vibrant florals, and meaningful cultural moments, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the DC skyline.

Their vision came to life through a rich palette of coral, orange, chartreuse, and gold. Heritage-inspired florals and personal touches, like custom cat-themed cocktail menus and a surprise lion dance, added even more depth. Every detail reflected Jean and Hamilton’s story and shared style.

At Jayne Heir Weddings & Events, we specialize in designing elevated weddings that honor our couples’ heritage, story, and style. This celebration perfectly embodied that mission, and we’re thrilled to share the thoughtful details that made it unforgettable. A Stylish Start to the Day

Jean and Hamilton’s wedding day began with a relaxed but meaningful morning surrounded by loved ones. Jean slipped into a chic Pronovias gown, while Hamilton got ready in a classic black-and-white tux. Their getting-ready spaces buzzed with laughter, anticipation, and quiet joy, setting the tone for a day rooted in personal significance.

From the start, the couple had one core goal in mind: ease. For both themselves and their guests. That focus guided every decision, from selecting heirloom jewelry and custom stationery to choosing to partner with us, Jayne Heir Events, for planning. With cultural touches and bold florals on the horizon, these intentional morning moments helped ground the celebration in connection, comfort, and love.

An Autumn Ceremony with Monument Views

The couple exchanged vows on the rooftop of Potomac View Terrace, where guests were treated to panoramic views of the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and Capitol Building. This breathtaking backdrop created a feeling of grandeur and elegance right from the start.

To welcome guests, bright floral pillars in shades of orange, red, and chartreuse lined the ceremony space. These joyful colors tied seamlessly into the surrounding seasonal landscape while reflecting the couple’s shared aesthetic.

At Jayne Heir, every design choice carries meaning. We selected bold, sculptural arrangements to mirror Jean and Hamilton’s vibrant personalities and cultural roots. The color palette not only echoed autumn’s warmth but also celebrated tradition. From the petal-lined aisle to the carefully chosen ceremony chairs, each element created an immersive and emotional experience.

A Cultural Escort Display with Symbolism

At Jayne Heir Events, we believe every moment is an opportunity to deepen meaning, and this escort display did exactly that. Designed by Revolution Events, the team crafted a custom Chinese armoire to showcase red boxes, each adorned with guests’ names and table numbers in gold leaf calligraphy by Cygnus Studios. Red, a symbol of joy, celebration, success, and good fortune, is considered the luckiest color in Chinese culture. Together, the structure and symbolism created a striking focal point that honored tradition while setting a tone of abundance and warmth.

Reception Design at Potomac View Terrace

Potomac View Terrace offered a clean, modern canvas with sweeping views of Washington, DC’s most iconic landmarks. The couple chose this venue for its balance of contemporary structure and historical charm. With autumn in full swing, the space welcomed guests into an atmosphere filled with warmth and celebration.

We partnered closely with the couple to refine their design vision and guide key decisions, especially the color palette. This was one of the most important elements to them. They wanted hues that felt both meaningful and vibrant. Together, we selected tones that reflected their values and set the tone for the entire evening.

The final design featured a bold palette of coral, orange, chartreuse green, and gold. These colors didn’t just look stunning, they carried significance. They symbolized joy, prosperity, and vitality. Additionally, Sarah Khan Event Styling paid tribute to Chinese heritage through floral centerpieces displayed in elegant chinoiserie vessels. As a result, these thoughtful touches added tradition and depth to the modern tablescapes.

Fashion, Performance, and Personal Touches

Jean, a true fashionista, stunned in three unique looks: a timeless Pronovias gown, a modern Ines Di Santo dress, and a glittering Nadine Merabi mini with white cowboy boots. Hamilton joined the final outfit change in a traditional Chinese shirt, an intentional nod to Jean’s heritage and a beautiful symbol of their cultural union.

As the couple made their grand reception entrance, the Chua Martial Arts troupe surprised guests with a vibrant lion dance. The performance brought energy, tradition, and a dose of spectacle that marked the night with unforgettable joy.

Even the bar carried personal touches, with custom cocktails named after their cats, Georgia and Gus. Illustrated menus made guests smile, and reminded everyone just how thoughtfully this day was designed.
