One of the highlights in 2021, was most certainly my own “Falling in Love with Baby Alexander” baby shower. I couldn’t wait to welcome our family’s newest arrival – our little Heiress arrived just four short months ago and we have been obsessed ever since. With the most incredible family and friends (and a team of vendors I couldn’t be more grateful for!), I am thrilled to finally be sharing photos from our girl baby shower this past fall. As a Washington, DC event planner, I take baby showers pretty seriously, and I loved being on the other side of the event for this one.
Just a taste of what’s to come? One of my favorite details of the event was this massive balloon tunnel guests walked through as they arrived!
I really wanted to practice what I preach and remain present throughout the event. So, I brought in the Jayne Heir team to handle the logistics of the day for me. We started with a “room reveal” which (as a wedding planner) is often one of my most cherished moments when we plan weddings and events for our couples. I love to see their faces light up when they see the space! Whether you are planning a wedding or a baby shower, there is often months of planning and hundreds of tiny details that come together to make your event a reality. Whenever possible, we like to work a few minutes into the timeline where you can actually enjoy seeing everything come together before your guests arrive. It was almost surreal to be on the other side. I was overwhelmed by how everything came together so flawlessly!
When I started to design my baby shower, I knew I wanted to incorporate the rich colors of fall in a well-rounded, yet elevated, way. As an event designer, I really believe that good event design is all about expressing yourself and utilizing all of your senses. Of course, I wanted my girl baby shower to be no exception! At Jayne Heir, when we design an event, we go beyond just the visuals and aim to create something truly multi-dimensional for my family and friends. We ended up designing the space with mixed seating options (with luxurious velvet banquette seating and tufted sofas) so there would be several places for guests to sit down and enjoy the space.
From there, Addie of BCG Events helped bring our vision to life by bringing in an abundance of florals. The space bursted with blush, coral, and burnt orange accents. I absolutely love gorgeous florals, and they really did fill up so much of the visual space (from anchoring seating areas to over-the-top centerpieces). Finally, our fall celebration was complete with REAL hand-painted pumpkins and velvet pumpkin accents.
If you have followed Jayne Heir for a while, you know that no detail is ever too small. As a wedding planner, I always love an over-the-top cake (and display!), and this one was no exception. Everything was gorgeously crafted to match the fall aesthetic. From pumpkin and vanilla bean flavored cake pops and decadent sugar cookies to a jaw-dropping 4-tier cake complete with floral and velvet pumpkin accents. When guests were thirsty, they could choose between two fall signature cocktails. Or, warm up at our coffee station with branded stir sticks. As a wedding planner, I always find myself swooning over my couples’ event details. I loved experiencing the same designing my baby shower. It really is all in the details!
Despite what you may have read, favors still matter. As event planners, we always help our couples choose a favor for their guests that is both meaningful and personal to them. For my baby shower, we chose to stick to the theme and create adorable customized mini pumpkins, personalized to each guest with custom calligraphy from our friend Laura at LH Calligraphy. This was just one of the many times we were grateful for our incredible vendor relationships.
Overall, I couldn’t have dreamt up a better celebration for the birth of our little Heiress. It was an absolutely nostalgic experience being on the other side of the event planning experience and just further cemented how incredibly fortunate we are here at Jayne Heir to be able to create experiences like these for other people. If you are currently looking for a luxury event planner, we would be honored to be considered.
