Alonzo and Rohey were dreaming of a true Winter Wonderland wedding, and we brought their vision to life this past December at one of Washington’s newest wedding venues – The Schuyler. With an elegant crisp white and emerald color palette (and 350 of their closest family and friends), Alonzo and Rohey’s December wedding was filled with so much love and luxury at every turn. We can’t wait to share the incredible photos (and details!) that made this stunning wedding at the Schuyler a reality.
If you are currently planning a wedding in Washington and are looking for a team of wedding planners and designers to make your vision a reality, make sure to learn more about Jayne Heir here, or inquire here directly. We love to plan lavish events around Washington, DC (and beyond!) and would love to help you make your once-in-a-lifetime wedding day an incredible experience for all.
Does this wedding look familiar? You may have seen it recently featured in the Washingtonian! We absolutely love when the incredible couples we work with are shown off to the world!
Here at Jayne Heir, every intricate detail matters. We love when brides let us help curate their look from head to toe (and Rohey was absolutely gorgeous!). However, for our grooms reading, don’t forget to curate your look too! Alonzo’s bespoke custom tuxedo from Stanlion was an absolute favorite of our 2021 wedding season. For their wedding party, the ladies wore floorlength emerald dresses (which provided a stunning contrast!) and the groomsmen wore custom black tuxedos. From head to toe, no detail is too small to be carefully considered.
We also love to work with our couples (and their wedding photographers) to carefully plan those morning-of detail shots. As your wedding planners, we want to make sure you have everything you need and don’t spend one minute stressing on your wedding day. We also want to make sure that everything you bring matches your aesthetic, naturally. For their flatlays, we sourced items that would go well with their overall wintry aesthetic (like the gold wax seals and blue velvet ring box) and asked the florist for a few loose florals (and Dusty Miller leaves, which were a treasured addition to the entire day).
Although Alonzo and Rohey had over 350 guests attend their wedding reception, they kept the day quite intimate, starting with a first look and then exchanging vows in front of only their wedding party. When it comes to your wedding day, there are no rules. Whatever your heart desires, we make it happen. Alonzo and Rohey wrote their own vows, and kept them incredibly personal. With only their closest family and friends, they gave each other the chance to be vulnerable and soak up the moment. Although so many couples come to us excited about planning the wedding reception (the gorgeous tablescapes, the packed dance floors), it’s the ceremony that actually gets you married. We always make it count.
Every angle of this gorgeous winter wedding at Schuyler was beautifully designed and executed. Their florals were over the top, with their sweetheart table at the center, adorned with an oversized floral canopy completed with orchids, roses, babies’ breath, and Dusty Miller leaves. The rest of the decor was kept white or clear to allow the florals and details to really pop. Everything came together flawlessly.
As you scroll through the incredible details, let us just add a disclaimer that designing a wedding like this takes a village. After 8 years in the wedding industry, we like to believe we have strong relationships with the best of the best Washington wedding vendors. We bring them our couples’ vision and they help make us make it better. We have to thank BCG Events who helped us with the florals and rentals needed to create something this incredible!
As DC wedding planners, we had been anxiously awaiting for The Schuyler to open their doors as Washington’s newest wedding venue. Alonzo and Rohey brought so much love and life into the space with their multicultural Gambian and African American Wedding. Likewise, we loved infusing both their Winter Wonderland vision and their culture into their reception.
Moreover, Alonzo is a Maryland State Delegate, and we were beyond honored that he trusted us with their wedding day. These two embody couples we love to work with: passionate, trusting, and gorgeous on the inside and out. We can’t wait to see what this power couple accomplishes next! If you are looking for a DC wedding planner, we would love to hear from you too. Learn more about planning with Jayne Heir here.
